The backing fabric was available during the 2007 Minnesota Shop Hop this past August. Because the wall quilts are gifts for a MN native who now lives in CA and a brave CA native who explored MN this summer (and lived to tell about it), I think the fabric will be a fun reminder of all things MN. I live in the Lake Superior area. The famous Mall of America is a about 200 miles south of Duluth in the Minneapolis area...but most of the really good stuff is up here in the Northland!

Nothing Announces The Minnesota Fall Season As Well As Batik Fabrics...
Love these deliciously rich batiks! If you look closer you will see that the dark leaf in the upper right corner is actually a pretty purple batik. These colors absolutely glow when light hits them! The yellow adds the "pop" that makes this work...thanks to those Quilters Coop gals who helped me discover just the right shade! This is my first use of batiks. I know! Where have I been? What was I thinking? I visited Colorful Quilts, while MN Shop Hopping. I found some wonderful batiks there, too. Tomorrow, I will bind these in the same fabric as the outer border...just had to get them on the blog. They will look even prettier when bound!

thanks for your comment on my blog. I am originally from MN...now residing in WI via MI. I hope to be here for a long time. I am a bit sick of moving. (the photo on the top of your sidebar is beautiful!)
ReplyDeleteI never have used Batiks...but they are the perfect choice for fall quilts, aren't they?
I love the Minnesota wording fabric... what line is it from?
ReplyDeleteOnce a Minnesotan, always a Minnesotan!
