Alli brought me this pot. She figured it was a "McCoy" that had been painted white. The price was right, so she grabbed it. She gifted me with this and five old quilt magazines from the 1980's. The magazines were a lot of fun to browse through. I noticed that like clothing fashions, quilting trends recycle every 30 years, too! I wasn't quilting in the 80's so it's all new to me.

More soaking, a gentle brushing, some work with a tool to clean out the water tray which was difficult to get the paint off and here she is. Not a crack or chip underneath all of that white paint, this beautiful pink was revealed. This pot replaces one that I dropped and of course broke to bits! Alli remembered how sad I was about my big Oops, so she brought me this one and I just love her thoughtfulness...thanks DD2!

That's interesting!!! And it looks so good in its original pink finery!!
ReplyDeleteThe big question is Why you someone paint that pretty pink pot white?? It sure turned out great - you never would have thought it was painted. Good job!
ReplyDeleteI have a couple of pots like that, but different colors. How neat that Ali gifted you with the McCoy.
ReplyDeleteWhat a pretty pink pot. I never would have thought to remove the paint. Thanks for sharing it with us. Now, what will you put in your new pot?
ReplyDeleteI didn't know there was such a thing as a real McCoy. The pot is gorgeous. Thanks for the paint tip.
ReplyDeleteOh crud! I USED TO HAVE one like that in turquoise, but wasn't 'into' collecting McCoy. Darn it. Well, yours looks good and has taught me a lesson. Thanks!
