There I am, stripping away the ridge cap. Do you wonder if I wouldn't rather be sewing? You bettcha I would! This is a tough project. Hubby is inside pulling together supplies to replace rotted wood, but don't worry, he's coming back to bulldog the rest of the shingles off. This is a steep roof, didn't look that way until I climbed up here. Our DD1's friend, Dan, loaned us a Bulldog to strip the shingles and nails off and it is a sweet tool. Thank you, Dan!!
Tom's growing a Hops vine on the end of the building. He's a brewer of some very tasty beers! No doubt he would rather be brewing than working on this project just like I would rather be quilting. Poor guy, he works way too hard!
Here is our Carpenters Workshop and Garden Shed building. Would this not make the nicest Quilter's Studio? A girl can dream, but where would I do my dirty work? Where would I work on my workshoppy projects? The garden shed is actually separated from the workshop space by a wall so the business end of the garden shed in this building is kept to itself. It's a stinky place, not good for quilting. The carpenter's shop is finished inside and has potential...
Here is the other project that has kept us busy.
Our "Swing House" has been moved to it's new location. It now has a fresh coat of paint.

The old wood swing is in the shop being stripped of it's old paint and will reappear next spring all bright and shiny new. All it will need is a comfy cushion, a quilt, couple of magazines and a cuppa, or, maybe two little kids swinging?!
Some things to look forward to. A workshop made new again and time to daydream while gently swinging on a freshly painted swing, all in good time...you know how it is.

It is so nice to sit outside in a swing with some magazines or something to sew.
ReplyDeleteYes, that Dan sure is looking like someone to keep around. I'd rather be knitting than roofing myself. :o)
ReplyDeleteWow! You're quite the "handygirl" huh? That swing house is soo cute, it will be worth it next spring!
ReplyDeleteWow, it's beautiful. Your time will come, sitting in the swing, drinking the nicely brewed beer/wine and hand stitching, wonderful!
ReplyDeleteMy hat is off to you Kim. There is no way on this earth you'd get me on that roof!
ReplyDeleteYour workshop is probably bigger than my house - would make such a lovely sewing cabin :)
Lovely just lovely orit all will be when your done... already is but the new roof will be good to keep it that way! :O)... and swinging outside with a book (I will bring myself a good romance novel) :O) and a glass of wine... now we are talking!
ReplyDeleteDon't you fall off of that roof! You are going to be all done before we even get the rest of our shingles.
ReplyDeleteDid a little more practice with the pantos on the HQ today. It went a little bit smoother. Practice, practice, practice!
I just found your blog and Iam thrilled since I was born where you live!!!!!!! but alas, here Iam in Cali, for most of my life, but your blog is a great place to visit!
ReplyDeleteYou have been awarded The Primitive Excellence Award.

Good luck with all the work. You will be busy for a while but it will be worth it once you are finished.
ReplyDeleteNow I would move my quilt studio in our the men out! LOL! I could not resist any building as cute as that if I had it.
