Minnesota Shophop Quilt 2007

The first Quilt Minnesota Shophop took place in August of 2007. I purchased this MN themed fabric while touring participating quilt shops. More than two years later I got the bug to piece this quilt top.
Does this quilt need a border?

The green fabric tacked on in the above photo is intended to be the border. I could add a border, but I'm not sure it needs one. A border would make the top larger, but not make a big difference in how it will be used. Any thoughts on this?

This post is for Carol. She's been feeling a bit lonesome for some of her blogger friends who haven't been posting much lately. I've been too busy sewing and last week the weather was so warm and sunny that I had to be outside, so no posting. The robins are back! We've had rain and the snow is slowly melting away. :-D

  2. I think a border would stop the eye, so I say yes.

  4. Minnesota themed fabric. I like that idea. The motifs make for a nice quilt and my kind of colors.

  5. I'm so happy that your weather is warming up and that the snow is melting....and the robins are coming back. I like it without the border...the binding could be the stopper.

  7. I like borders too but I have to say I like it the way it is. Go with what you want, it's beautiful either way.

  11. Hey Kim!

I also like the green border. It is a nice change in the pattern.

  12. Ooooh ooh ooh!! Something different going on over here!! No schnibbles ( hee hee!) This looks so neat! Hmmm. To put a border on or not. This one really could go either way. I agree with you. I think you can get away with not adding it If you didn't want to put it on. The binding will be enough. Maybe just make the binding wider then you normally would for the color stop. :0)

  13. I think a border would give a more pulled together look. Although I don't always add borders, some quilts just ask for and deserve them--and I think this is one of those quilts :) I love the colors and the "woodsy" feel of it!! Yay for robins!!!

  14. Add me to the list of border supporters. I think it needs one to tame it down just a bit so it's not so busy. Great colors!
